Major Victory Over My Lazy Self January 31, 2007

Well, it’s a minor victory, but a victory none the less. I went to class today, and did all the readings beforehand, so that was great, but I got lazier as the day progressed. My mother asked me to prepare supper, she had laid out the ingredients and the recipe and all I had to do was follow the recipe. Think not that I can’t cook, I’m a really good cook, but my mom can sometimes be OCD about certain things. Anyway I followed the recipe. Stage 1:
Appetizing ain’t it? Frozen veggies in a pool of watered down condensed cream of mushroom soup. Looks great!!!
Stage 2:

Browned chicken breast. That looks tasty!!! This was actually stage 1, but I had already browned the chicken before I decided to get the camera out. Oh well.
Stage 3:
This is after adding penne and sweet basil. Still not pretty. Anyway, while I was waiting for this wonderful stew to marinate and for the pasta to cook, I took some random images of the steamy window in the kitchen. Behold:
Anyway, I made dinner but unfortunately was too preoccupied to take a pic of the final product. It tasted much better than it looked that’s for sure.
After dinner I took a small nap and was supposed to wake up and pick up my sis from work and go to the gym. Well I definitely woke up, but didn’t want to go anywhere so I asked my mom to pick her up. I’m so weak. I waited around for a while, feeling ever more guilty, until finally I couldn’t take it any more and went and picked her up myself and we went to the gym. VICTORY! Anyway, I got a lot of work yet to do today. Adios.
Oh, I had a really bad hair day today. I’m not kidding.

Off to a Mediocre Start January 30, 2007

I went to class today, that’s a plus. I will be writing an essay and going to the gym this evening, so that will cap a productive day. I’ve also decided I’m going to start taking more pictures with my digital camera. I got a new one for Christmas and I don’t know how to use it yet so that’s another goal. Here’s me with my sibs. Guess which one is me…. I bet it’s not that hard. This really has nothing to do with what I’ve been talking about, except maybe that it was taken with a digital camera (and I’m in it).
Here’s another one of me, I’ll narrow it down a bit:
Yeah, I’m the one on the left. That’s my sister Kayla, she’s a pip. We went out for dinner on Saturday and then went to see the movie Deja Vu. Mmmm…..Denzel. This pic isn’t from the outing, it was taken last year at a different movie theatre.
Anyway, since it’s only midafternoon I don’t have much to say about today. Perhaps this evening I’ll have more to report. Adios!!

Lets Hear it for Personal Improvements! January 29, 2007

Ok, so I have a plethora of personal goals I hope to accomplish, and I am very wishy washy in my belief that I can accomplish them. Goal #1 is to lose weight. Although there is very little hope that one is gonna happen (it’s been goal numero uno since I was 8, and nothin’s happening). Goal #2 is to be accepted for a master’s position at Mercyhurst College. That one has many sub-goals and seems more attainable, yet I am still quite scared at the prospect of failing. Anyway, I guess this blog is gonna take on the role of documenting my successes (and numerous failures). Hopefully I will slowly gain the courage to open up more, I suck at writing personal stuff, it always feelings like I’m providing evidence of my mediocrity instead of keeping it safely hidden in my brain. This photo seems to sum it up (note the fear).

Time Management January 22, 2007

I’ve been having a lot of trouble recently in balancing all my obligations. I tend to concentrate on one aspect of my life and forget that there are other things that need my attention. I think this term will be a huge lesson in time management and organization for me. I’m doing ok so far but I haven’t really entered into the worst of it, which is heading my way in the next couple of weeks or so. This week I need to concentrate on a paper I need to write for my anthropology of food and nutrition class. My topic is maple sugar so I am heading out to a sugar bush some time this week. It should prove to be interesting. I also have to bake something with maple sugar for my midterm potluck. It seems kinda crazy to have a potluck in a midterm in university, but I’m not complaining.

School January 17, 2007

I’ve been back to school for a week now and things are already getting crazy. I am taking 4 principles this term, all of them essay courses so I am overloaded. I’m happy though, I thrive on challenges.
